Weve tried to answer a few basic questions about DVD
on this page. If you have a question about a ScratchCat DVD
program (or if you just need a little help to better understand
DVD), please give us a call at (877) 806-4746 or send your
question to DVDhelp@ScratchCat.com.
How do I navigate the DVD?
The DVD is menu-driven. After you insert the DVD into the
player drawer and press PLAY, youll see your first menu
in just a few seconds. From that moment on, whenever you get
to a decision point on the DVD, press the up, down, left or
right arrow buttons on your players remote control unit
to move around the screen and highlight the option you want.
Once youve highlighted your choice, press SELECT on
your remote to go to the location.
Will I use every button on the DVD
remote control?
Not with ScratchCat programs. The main buttons you will use
are:
- Left, right, up, down arrows
- Select
- Play
- Skip
- Return
- Menu
Can I play the DVD video in my computers
DVD-ROM drive?
Well, technically, yes, if you have compatible software. However,
we think theres a better use model. ScratchCat programs
are specifically designed for whole-class instruction and
are best used with a DVD player connected to a television.
However
ScratchCat DVDs do contain computer files. On every ScratchCat
DVD, you'll find PDF files for ScratchCats Legal Agreement
as well as for each of the student blackline masters found
in the Teachers Guide. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader
to view and print those files. Don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader?
Download it FREE at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.
Do I need to buy an expensive DVD
player with a barcode reader?
No. In fact, all ScratchCat programs are menu-driven, so no
barcode reader is necessary.
How should I care for my DVDs?
Handle them as you would a CD. Be sure to hold them around
the edges and try to avoid touching the shiny surface. Always
store them in their protective covers and avoid leaving them
in, or exposing them to, very hot or very cold places. If
a DVD gets dirty, take a dry, soft cloth and gently wipe in
a straight line from the inside hole of the disc to the outer
edge. Most minor scratches probably won't affect performance,
but larger scratches may.
Can I erase or record over a ScratchCat
DVD?
No.
Can I print a picture of an image?
Not without special equipment and written permission from
ScratchCat.
My remote control isnt working.
First, check your remotes batteries to make sure they
are fresh and properly installed. Aim the DVD remote at the
DVD player and not the TV, keeping an unobstructed line of
sight to the player. Clean the window on the front of the
remote and clean the sensor on the front of the DVD player.
Please take me back to the beginning.
